Leading International Expert Gives Talk on Corporate Finance

As part of its Executive Education Programs, Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) concluded an exclusive four- day Corporate Finance workshop on Thursday 25th October, 2007
The workshop was particularly designed for executives who make or contribute to decisions that have significant financial implications. This involves anyone with profit-and-loss responsibility such as managers in marketing, operations, human resources and engineering. Among other goals, the program also seek to empower participants with the concepts needed to understand and predict the financial implications of managerial decisions.
Professor Ali Fatemi, Chairman of Finance department of DePaul University was the course facilitator. A graduate of Oklahoma State University, Dr Fatemi has conducted teaching assignments in many countries worldwide including: Japan, Netherlands, Germany and Czech Republic. He has published his papers in leading domestic and International Journals such as Journal of Finance, Journal of Business research and Journal of Economics and Business.
“ The course is intended to give a high level of intensive awareness of value creation to encourage the participants to think about issues related to creating values to their organizations. How to proceed to an operation and what determines the value of a company, measuring the cost of capital, where the company creates value and how, are key issues covered at the seminar.” Said Dr. Fatimi. “The topics are supported by real case analysis and exercises evaluating mega multinational projects”, he added.
Reflecting his views on the workshop, Mr. Shahram Razavi, from Al Salam Bank said "The program has been satisfactory and the ideas and concepts presented were very refreshing because they were presented in a new light using a contemporary approach to the topic. The real life case studies and group discussions has further enriched our learning experiences”.
On the other hand, Ms Nada Al Kooheji, Senior Manager at Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company said “The topics discussed at the workshop and the concepts raised were very much associated with our job. The practical applications to the theories presented as well open as the open classroom discussions enhances the program’s uniqueness”.
