In Association with BIBF, AIA Launches Islamic Accounting and Compliance Diploma Program

BIBF has signed a memorandum of understanding with The Association of International Accountants (AIA) on Tuesday 30 October 2007 to launch a new Diploma Program in Islamic Accounting and Compliance.

AIA Director of Administration, Tim Pinkney and BIBF Deputy Director, Husain Ismail signed the MoU which will continue for five years commencing 1 November 2007.

Under this agreement, BIBF, will be responsible for compiling the course structure and format, in addition to providing students with excellent teaching facilities and support. AIA will set the exam syllabi and papers for the Diploma and provide support to BIBF on other aspects.

The Diploma which will be available from January 2008, will comprise four papers: Auditing, Ethics and Corporate Governance, Islamic Banking Practice, Islamic Commercial Law and Islamic Accounting.

Announcing the agreement, BIBF’s Deputy Director Hussain Ismail said “As a leading provider of vocational and professional training in the financial services sector in Bahrain and the region, BIBF has become the number one choice for organizations and professional bodies wishing to enhance their offerings and customer satisfaction”. “We are proud to partner with such highly reputed global organization as the AIA to help enhance the knowledge and performance of professionals in the Islamic Banking Industry,” he added.

Tim Pinkney, AIA Director of Administration said “I am delighted to sign this Memorandum of Understanding with the Bahrain Institute of and Finance as it will allow AIA to provide a wider range of courses to the public and to our members. We have been conducting exams in Islamic Finance for over ten years now, and with the support of BIBF, we hope to offer a qualification that meets the needs of companies working within this field and to establish long term relationships with institutes in the Middle East.”
