Bridging the Skills Gap of Bahraini Business Owners and Managers
Leadership Skills Program Launched

In a joint initiative to enhance the leadership capabilities of Bahrain’s business managers and owners, the Labour Fund and the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance hosted an open session on Saturday 8th March 2008 to introduce the “Diploma in Management Programme” which is offered in association with the Chartered Management Institute, UK.
The event was attended by the Management team and faculty of BIBF and Labour Fund and candidates interested in the Program. Commenting on the program, Acting CE of the Labour Fund Mr. Abdulellah Al Qassimi said “This initiative is part of the talent management program designed with the Human Capital Development Initiaitves of Labour Fund in an attempt to train business owners and business managers in leadership skills and focus on enriching their knowledge with the latest management practices”. “The program will contribute towards businesses to plan effective recruitment and training and development strategies of their employees,” added Mr. Al Qassimi.
Dr. Ahmed Abdul Ghani, Vice president of Human Capital Development Department at the Labour Fund gave a brief presentation on the objectives of the Labour Fund and highlighted major projects that were designed and implemented by the Labour Fund to reduce the Bahrainis skills gap in the current and future market. “The Kingdom of Bahrain has long recognised the importance of investment in the labour market. The critical role of human capital development and enhancing the skills of local Bahrainis have been recognised as an essential element of improving business efficiency and enhance productivity,” he said. “Research conducted by the Labour Fund indicates that there exists, at present, insufficient skilled management in local private sector establishments. Through this 12 months part time program, our objective is to reduce such a gap through the training and development of 200 Bahraini Business owners & managers over a 3 Year Period,” Added Mr. Abdul Ghani.
BIBF’s Director, Mr. Garry Muriwai welcomed this initiative and expressed his delight to join hands with the Labour Fund to contribute towards developing potential leaders and business owners in Bahrain. “Bahraini businesses are the engine of economic growth and prosperity in the Kingdom and it is for that reason that the “Leadership Skills Program” has been launched,” he observed. “The program will be taught by BIBF expert faculty and will focus on providing candidates with guidance and useful insights on how to expand their business and what direction they take to achieve maximum levels of achievements,” he added.
