BIBF Preparatory Course Achieves Global Pass Rate in CFA Level I Exams

Twenty five candidates of various financial institutions in Bahrain and the Region are currently attending CFA Level I Preparatory Course held at the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) in order to prepare the December 2007 exams .
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) is a highly sought after US professional qualification for investment professionals. The 3-years program, requires about 1,000 hours of studies. Candidates must hold a 4 years bachelor’s degree or 4 years of qualified work experience in order to be admitted to the program. The CFA charter is awarded after completing the three levels and meeting the three-year work experience requirement.
The CFA Level I Preparatory Course commenced on May 5th at BIBF. Candidates attend classes every Saturday for six hours over two sessions. Out of the twenty five candidates registered for the preparatory course, 6 Bahrainis have been awarded the Esterad Investment scholarships for pursuing their study at BIBF. The candidates have been selected on the basis of assessment tests and interviews by an expert panel of BIBF faculty.
This year, CFA candidates represent various banks in the Kingdom and the GCC such as Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, in addition to representatives of government organizations and self- sponsored individuals with diverse educational backgrounds and work experience.
“BIBF is offering a highly intensive preparatory course based on lectures, quizzes, mock exams, web-based training tools for six months for adequate preparation for the Level I examination in December", said Dr. Subhadra Ganguli, Senior Instructor at BIBF's Banking Learning Center and Program Coordinator.
Dr. Ganguli went on to say "Our training methods have proved successful as we have reached the global pass rate of 34% in 2006 Level I exams. We aim to go beyond the global average in the near future”.
On the other hand, Mr. Husain Al Ajmi, BIBF Division Head of BIBF Learning Centers commenting on the program stated "BIBF plans to offer more scholarships for professional qualifications like the CFA to bridge the skills gap in the financial sector in Bahrain". Al Ajmi also announced BIBF’s plan to start the CFA Level II Preparatory Course later this year. “The success story of our CFA Preparatory course lies in the additional value added by the experienced CFA Charter holders as guest lecturers in the program” He Said.
