In association with the HRD Fund, Series-7 Program Concludes at BIBF

Fourteen Bahraini candidates from several financial institutions in Bahrain have recently completed an Investment Representative Training Program at the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF). The Program is sponsored by the HRD- fund is particularly targeted at employees in the Banking and Financial Sector employees in Bahrain.

Dr. Sudhakar Raju, Professor at the Rockhurst College, USA was the Program Facilitator. A recipient of KSG Award for Teaching Excellence from Harvard University, Dr. Raju has conducted programs on Risk Management, Portfolio Modeling, Derivatives Markets and CFA Programs in Bahrain, Kuwait and UAE. “This is the best group of students we ever had in a Series-7 program in BIBF. The students have a wide diversity of experience which has made the training program a very enriching experience.” Said Dr. Raju who also conducts the Investment Representative training program (along with Series-7 Guidelines) every year at BIBF.

The Investment Representative Program has been recognized by the Central Bank of Bahrain as the licensing requirement for brokers and dealers in the Bahrain financial services industry. BIBF is the only recognized center to run it in Bahrain.

Senior Lecturer at BIBF’s Banking Learning Center Dr. Subhadra Ganguli said “We have selected the fourteen candidates through a rigorous process of assessment test and interviews to ensure excellent quality of BIBF training”. “All registered financial institutions in Bahrain have been approached by HRD- Fund officials and BIBF Banking Learning Center staff to send their nominations for the program,” added Dr. Ganguli.

The selected candidates have undergone a two-week intensive training at the BIBF on Securities Markets and Product knowledge, Bahrain and Arab Capital Markets, OTC markets, Derivatives, Fundamental and Technical Analyses which are in line with the Series-7 Certification guidelines of the then NASD.

Commenting on this occasion, Mr. Husain Al –Ajmi, Division Head of BIBF Learning Centers, also remarked that BIBF is working towards a Capital Markets Certification Program to be launched in early 2008 in cooperation with the Central Bank of Bahrain.
