About the Seminar
The recent global crisis has exposed the pitfalls of conventional economics and the traditional policy toolkits. Are we at a pivotal time similar to the past when earlier paradigms were challenged, scrutinized and disavowed – a process from which came new paradigms? The discourse of paradigm shift is a subject in itself dealing with questions, such as “Why paradigms shift?” or “Why major changes in the field of knowledge face ‘paradigm paralysis’?”.

Whether we are set for a paradigm shift or not, that the existing paradigms have serious problems is now self-evident. This presentation sheds light on the challenges before any major paradigm shift from both conventional and Islamic perspective.”
